Thanks for wanting to know a little bit more about Windmill's Wax! I started my little company because I felt the need for good quality candles that are vegan and natural, where too many candles out there are made from toxic ingredients (like paraffin - a derivative of crude oil!). I hold a bachelors in physics and chemistry, and am currently working on my doctorate in science education. I use my skills every day in the making of every candle. I make them at home in my kitchen, one by one, with detailed attention to quality of the ingredients, and how these ingredients are put together to make a final candle that burns cleanly, are environmentally friendly and almost 100% recyclable/biodegradable, while still having a maximum scent throw, and still holding to the integrity of natural and vegan. I pride myself in my craft, and will never sell a product that I would not use myself, to my exacting standards.
Why Windmills? It is related to the windmills in the story of Don Quixote. Don Quixote would unrelentingly tilt at the windmills, no matter how many people told him he was foolish, because he was convinced of his noble cause. And so it is with my little candle business. I operate from out of my home, and most of my expenses come out of pocket - but I feel so strongly in my mission to provide for you candles and other wax products that are truly humane and eco-friendly, that I will continue in my quest.
